Browse the minutes below from our 2008-09 meetings to date.
Carr Building Activity
Many students and parents have expressed concerns about the condition and safety of the Carr Building. At the December 08 PTSA Board meeting, the DSA Facilities Safety Initiative was formed to investigate the status of the Carr Building and the timeline for the renovation or replacement of that facility due to obvious signs of serious deterioration.
In December 2008, Lyleen Collins and Jeff Goll, DSA PTSA President, and Board member respectively, met with the DPS sub-committe and expressed those concerns and requested that plans to remedy this problem be addressed sooner than 2011, which is when work is slated to begin.
On January 27, a DSA PTSA Facilities Safety Committee Meeting was held at DSA to review concerns about the Carr Building and plans. Mr. Hugh Osteen, DPS Assistant Superintendent for Operational Services, attended the meeting. Click here to read the minutes of that meeting.
The DSA PTSA will do its best to keep you updated about the Carr via this website. If you have specific questions or comments contact the DSA PTSA at dsaptsa@yahoo.com.
Actions
There are currently two bills before the North Carolina Legislature that will directly affect not just our students, but students state wide. Please take a moment to read these Bills and let your representative know your opinion.
